Here at giftUP, our co-founding group is actually a trio! Matt and I are husband and wife and Shane is a lifelong friend. Therefore, I always love hearing the stories of other couples that take the leap of faith to be an entrepreneur team. Hearing a relatable story is always inspiring and the story of Jennifer and Patrick at Supply was no exception. In fact, after reading about their journey in their blog post, “The Supply Story” I just had to learn more! So, I reached out and am so excited to be featuring them within our very own blog!
So, what is Supply?
Supply’s primary concept is a single edge razor which provides the most comfortable shave in the world. It is made from 100% stainless steel and comes with a 100-day trial followed by a 100-year warranty! Making it basically a risk-free purchase and the perfect Father’s Day gift option!

GU: Within your website, you mention starting "Supply" because you wanted to create an everyday item that lived up to its promise! How did you decide on creating a razor?
S: Our design draws inspiration from an old style of razor that my grandfather used when he was alive. It was called an “injector” razor and gave an amazingly close and comfortable shave. Once I tried a vintage version of the razor, I was hooked. I tried to shop for a modern version, but quickly found out they aren’t made anymore. So, I decided to make one for myself. One thing led to another, and now we have a company. Despite what we’ve been told by “big razor” all these years, shaving with a single blade is superior to five. It gives just as close of a shave, except without irritation or ingrown hairs. Multi-blade razors tug and cut hair below the skin, which is the primary cause of razor bumps. In addition, five times as many blades means five times as much friction on your skin. This friction is what causes razor burn and irritation.
GU: Your story is a big inspiration to us here at giftUP. Please elaborate on what motivated you to take the leap and to focus on "Supply" full-time?
S: The answer is actually simple. I was scared. People ask me a lot - What was your tipping point? What made you decide to finally make the leap? Sure, I was terrified of leaving. Very scared, actually. I’ve been working with the same company for close to a decade, after all. But there’s one thing I was even more scared of. Staying. I’ve put my heart and soul (and a good amount of life savings) into this business. Sure, I could keep running it as a side hustle forever. But in doing that, I would always wonder. What if I had really dug in, really given it everything I had? What could I have built it into? Would it be something I was truly proud of? Leaving a plush corporate job is terrifying. But for me, it’s been one of the best decisions in my life. At least so far. The timing isn't perfect, and there are many holes in my plan. Most of them I probably can't see. But the timing will never be perfect. The planets aren't going to align, and the sky isn't going to part to reveal the path forward. So, I'm doing the only thing I can do - trust my gut, and take a leap.
GU: Who has been your greatest inspiration as an entrepreneur?
S: After reading the book "4 Hour Work Week", I was inspired by Tim Ferris and his approach to running a startup and growing it. He has a way of using research and data to inspire you to take leaps that require a good amount of risk. Tim Ferris wrote that "someday" is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave. I would add that when they get there, you'll only be left with the "what if's" that remain behind. I've had this dream for a long time now. And I refuse to let all the someday take it to the grave. For better or worse, I'm all in.
So there you have it!
The single blade revolution is in full swing at Supply and is being led by an awesome power-couple who isn’t afraid of taking risks!
